"It is... but you'll have to face it sooner or later. The longer you put it off the harder it will hit." She said, pausing for a moment when a waitress stopped by the table. "But if there's any way I can help you with it just let me know okay?"

Aika thought for a moment.
"I think I would at least want to find out his side of the story... if it turns out that what you've believed all these years is true you haven't lost anything. But if it turns out to be false you might gain something."

Mira turned to Aika, a weak smile on her face. "Well, you're a bigger person than me, I'll tell you that much." She clenched her fists. "Even if he felt bad for it, my mother still paid the price and I don't want her death to be down-played. Her death wasn't an accident in any way."

"I think my opinion is a bit biased... I think I'd rather have one crappy father then no parents at all." Aika said softly after which she shook her head. "Her death may not have been an accident but there's a chance it has been done against your father's wishes."

"You mean when he was home? My father was the right hand man of a mafia family and so he spend more time with the boss then with his own family." Aika explained. "But when he was home he was strict but in a good way... principessa, that's how he used to call me. Pretty cliche huh?"

Mira smiled. "That must have been nice, to be someone's princess." She laughed but it slowly halted it. "I'm not complaining, being raised in the Da Luca houshold never felt like I was some basket-baby taken in out of pity. I was treated the same like Lucille, Sile, and the others. I was fed the same, loved the same--"

She lightly chuckled.

"--scolded the same. I was such a problem kid, too, in primary school. Always throwing tantrums and causing scenes, getting into trouble at school. I'm surprised the maids had so much patience!" Her smile softened. "I grew up happier than most kids in my situation, contrary to my childhood complaints. It's just that sometimes . . ." She whiped a quick tear that escaped before she could catch it while her lip quivered. "I think of what it'd be like if my mother were still alive . . . if Alec had . . . hadn't . . ." She shook her head, not sure or not admitting what her words wanted to imply.

"Wondering about how things could have been... it's completely useless." Aika said seriously. "I don't mean to upset you any more then you already are but the simple truth is that it won't happen... you can only hold on to the things you do have."
She sighed as she ruffled through Mira's hair.
"You have some nice memories of your time with the Da Luca's... those are the ones you should treasure. Memories like the one of you being a problem kid are the ones you should tell your grandchildren when you're old and gray. I know I'll be telling mine... it will be fun to tell them that I was, as the priest who was the headmaster of my primary school once said, 'a demon's child beyond saving just like those siblings of hers'." Aika said grinning. "I'm sure if my parents would have gotten four more children the seven sins would be complete."

Mira chuckled softly. "Yeah, I guess." She closed her eyes while sighing with a chuckle. "Priest? You attended a Catholic School?" She asked a bit amused.

"Sadly enough I did... I still don't know the use of being able to read the bible in Latin. It was my mother's wish... she was raised Catholic herself so I guess it was only natural for her to send her children to a Catholic school."
Aika laughed lightly.
"It was actually fun sometimes... asking an 60 year old nun if she could explain how babies are born. The standard answer was that babies were a gift from God. When I asked if that meant that God slept with every woman I got send to the principal/head priest."

Mira chuckled. "Just imagining you and Catholic School in the same sentence seems like a grammatical error." She joked, wondering idly how someone who started at a school for angels came to carry the burden of a hitman.

"Oh but I am religious... I believe in God and I still believe he can make miracles happen. My father just learned to also give it a realistic view and after a few events I learned that he can't do everything, like I was told as a little girl." Aika said as she stared outside.

"Miracles, eh?" Her eyes wandered up absently. "We're human, we're limited. Sometimes we forget that our heroes and enemies are, too." She murmered, lost in thought.

"True..." Aika said as she nodded her head. "I never understood why my father told me and my siblings behind our mother's back not to always trust blindly on God. Now I do... both my hero and my enemy showed that to me."

"He's right, never trust God blindly." She agreed. "Because sometimes God trusts us to do things on our own." She shook her head with a smile. "Come to think of it, haven't had a conversation with the man upstairs in a while, I should visit a church one day. Its about time I start believing in something again."

"Churches are indeed very quiet... unless the priest is snoring in the confessional." Aika said laughing. "Most of the time I go to the forest, I love just sitting there... except for that one time a spider fell on top of my head."
She shuddered at the thought.
"I really hate spiders."

Mira froze at the suggestion, taking a gulp while averting her eyes down. "I'd go in a heartbeat, I've gone to see him before but . . ." Mira started shifting the weight on her feet. "I've never gone to his face. He has kids -- kids with his wife that are happy without the bastard of the family coming into their protective bubbles."

"Don't be so sure of that..." Aika said calmly. "...there's a chance they'll be more then happy to welcome you in. And besides, you could always try and catch your father alone then it's up to him whether he wants you to meet the rest of the family."
She finished her drink.
"So, what do you say? If we leave now we're in Italy tomorrow morning."
